My Mother’s Eyes, My Father’s Heart

Passion is my mother

vision is my father;

opportunity the playground

upon which they whirl.

I heard the cry of desire

ringing in an endless call;

a beggin’ moment that

whispered, I am here,

dance with me.

I silenced the audacity of

negative thoughts as we

waltzed beyond the hills,

beyond obstacles,

above the voice of inadequacy.

But when did I beckon him?

Was it through my tears

and frustration that opportunity

found me?

How did he know that being

both asleep and awake seared

the depths of me?

A restless mind trying

to birth a dream;

breaking through the chatty

 whispers that claim, “she has no voice.”

I screamed into the dawn

awaiting my echo...but

 his voice penetrated

the heaped darkness.

Every time I cried out

he answered.

He dreamed when I dreamed;

while transforming me beyond

my greatest illusion.

I loitered but I was never lost;

somehow, the vision was always there,

hidden among internal opposites;

one daring and alive; willing to take

a chance, the other afraid to

stray outside the lines.

But my soul cried out needing

to be free from the dangling

cords of life’s puppetry,

and the ache within my soul

that haunts me.

As much as hunger and thirst are

a part of living, my mother

has fed my hunger and my father,

my thirst; courage became the

journey...opportunity sprung forth

from seeds fed by sheer passion

and a poet was born.

"I like the way you capture many sides of an experience... It's the balancing of mother and father, hope and silence, movement forward and quiet waiting, subterranean yearning with full blown longing: very nice".

" Life is a hypocrite if I can't live the way it moves me."

Take your most intense expression of the world, yourself, and the relation of the two and you will have the significance of poetry and how it  adds to your experiences and ability to see the world with fresh eyes. This "artistic expression of the human mind" is taken to the next level by the poet of Poetry with Purpose. She takes a basic idea, feeling, attitude, or inspiration and gives it  a significance, a vision, a purpose. Her work open hearts and minds to the expanded range of the human experience and how poetry connects us to a greater work. Just as creatively as she takes the various emotions of love, fear and the appreciation for beauty and present those images concretely, she also has a vision for each project, as she expands that vision and makes it meaningful to her community.

                                                                                                  Coming Fall 2009

Several times a year she will choose among a wide range of important issues and challenges such as environment, disaster relief, education and poverty and host Benefit Book Signings in hopes to make a significant contribution that makes a difference in the lives of others.  Although, all of her projects are not charitable  projects, the passion she brings to each assignment ignites the human spirit in a way that keeps on giving.

"Some how reading about the work you are doing fortifies me and gives me hope."

Our Business

Poetry with Purpose inspires vision and gives meaning to why I write. I operate on the premise that creativity is not just in my words, but in the many ways I give back to my community.  My vision is to use the gift of writing to do more than inspire.

My goal is to show the world that poets are people with purpose, vision, and a heart that inspires!
